Treasures along the journey

FILED IN: LIFE COACHING

This year my kids and I lived in Frisco for six months and today we returned to our home in Argyle. In my time in Frisco I was able to explore the city and found many wonderful places. My most favorite was St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church of course. St. Francis has a vibrant and very big community, they hold 12 masses every Sunday, 4 of them being held in Spanish. On Easter Sunday they had over 25,000 parishioners attend mass, the lines were busier than at Disneyland. I loved it.

And my second favorite place, was the Frisco Mercantile store, which is the largest consignment store I have ever been to.

I spent many of my Saturdays without the kids walking the entire store.

There are so many items with their own stories piled up in one place; I’m sure there were many with happy endings, some with stories left half way, and maybe even others that never even had the chance to start.

But my most favorite, was a statue of St. Francis of Assisi that was right at the entryway of the store!

The statue is damaged. The little bird on his shoulder is missing the head, and his dress and the little lamb standing next to him have been stained with a splash of brown paint. This statue is very heavy, I’m sure it weights as much or even more than me.

Yesterday, on my last night in Frisco, I got to attend a beautiful concert to praise St. Francis of Assisi.

And today, I was able to place a beautiful companion to my little angles on our front yard! It will be beautiful to see real birds come and drink water from his hands, and the magnolia tree that will soon go there will match perfectly to the splash of brown paint on his dress and on the little lamb.
